Oh My!!

Remember my beautiful Tulip Tree last week?

Look what one night of 29 degree weather did to it.

The flowers dried up and feel like leather.

Elsewhere in the yard, everything survived.

But, my very favorite thing growing is this...

She is learning how to do the Hula Hoop (with absolutely no help from me).

Got my chandelier sprayed black for the pergola.

And a new metal bench delivered for the deck.

So, am just waiting on the last few details and some warmer weather to finish up the pergola and deck.

Hope you are enjoying some warmer weather (without tornadoes and storms).

Judy

  1. Oh my the same thing happened here....I knew it wouldn't last because its only beginning of March. Daffodils love the cold and will hurt them. If i lived closer I would steel that bench! If one night you see a red/white shasta parked in your driveway its be coming to get it! Just sayin...

    1. I was just shocked at how overnight they were gone!! I found that bench and have been looking thinking I would find one I like better at a less expensive price but when it got down to the last one, I bit the bullet. It just went so perfect with everything I am planning for the deck.

      Thanks for dropping by.

  2. Good thing you took a beautiful picture of your Tulip Tree (before...) This has been a very strange winter - snow, ice, snow, lots of snow, rain and repeat. What a good hula hoop girl. Looking forward to seeing your deck as it gets its new clothes, the bench and chandy look great. Hugs.

    1. Yes, I'm glad I got a picture because I had no idea it would be gone that fast. We have had an exceptionally warm winter and the plants and trees are all so confused. Laynee is trying so hard to learn to Hula Hoop, She's doing pretty well for her age. Am excited for warmer weather so I can finish up the deck.

      Thanks for visiting.

    1. Thanks Teresa. I got the metal bench at Hobby Lobby. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it and just couldn't get it out of my mind. So, I bit the bullet and got it. So glad I did.

      Thanks for dropping by.

    1. Thanks Susie. That little one is what keeps me going most of the time. I pick her up every day at school and keep her until I go get the twins at 5. She is at such a precious age and so eager to learn everything.

      Thanks for visiting.

  6. Thanks Diane. We only had that one night of below freezing temps. It sure did a lot of damage. We've had such a warm winter that the blooms are all so confused!!

    Thanks for dropping by.

  7. Love the chandelier. Sorry about your tulip tree that is sad :(. We had that tornado and severe thunderstorm weather yesterday and today it is snowing. Crazy. Suppose to be back up to warm again this weekend.
Have a great rest of the week.

  8. How fun to have a pergola and deck. Your poor tulip tree, is that the same as a magnolia?

    1. Thanks! I don't think the tulip tree is the same as a magnolia. I also have a couple of magnolia and they are nothing alike. Thanks for dropping by.

  10. All those blooms! You enjoy spring so much earlier than we do. Beautiful. The same for that little kiddo!

I love what you've done with your chandy and bench. I'm leaning toward black these days, too.

    1. Thanks Jane. This year, everything has really bloomed out extra early, But, we've run the risk of freezing temps also. Everything else seems to be doing okay except that tree.

      Thanks for dropping by.

  12. OH NO, sorry about your tulip tree! We are expecting temps at or below freezing here this weekend! I hope the blooms survive! What a sweet picture of that little cutie-pie with the yellow daffodils! Enjoy your day dear Judy, HUGS!

  13. Yes Theresa - just got to enjoy it for a few days but it was gorgeous! Oh well, everything else seems to have survived the freeze. Thanks for dropping by.

  14. That is so sad about your tulip tree! The weather has been all over the place here, too. A few days ago it was 60, then the next day much cooler and torrential rain, then yesterday only 30 and snow. Love your new bench. Your porch is going to be so beautiful when your chandelier is hung up.

  15. Oh no! I hate that happened to your tulip tree. I have a fear of it freezing here and all our blooms will be gone. Love that bench! Hugs!

  17. Great post Judy, but so sorry about your tulip tree. That's what happens when it warms up early. Everything is growing to quickly. March can come in like a lamb and go out as a lion.

Glad that you are okay - granddaughter is so cute.

    1. Thanks Mary. Yes, here it has been so crazy. We've had several days with 30-40 degree drops in temps. Not good for most gardens. But, so far the tulip tree is the only thing damaged.

That Laynee is so precious. She keeps me busy and I love it.

      Thanks for visiting,

  18. Don't you just cringe when Mother Nature does that to our flowering trees? I never mastered the Hula Hoop. Love the new bench.
