We Have Babies!! (Mourning Doves, that is)

Look at the precious little baby Mourning Dove.  I think there is only one.  The mother and father let me get within 12" of their nest to take this photo.  See the little one?

It's a dark, cloudy and rainy day here in Oklahoma.  The perfect day to sew and sew and sew!!

Enjoy!

  1. Sooo cute! My dove nest is on my closed martin house, so I will have to use my zoom lens. Very sweet picture!

  4. I love the sound of doves. We have several around our home and my husband raises Ring Necked doves. Loved your feature over at Junkchiccottage. You are very talented. I'm a new follower. Hope you'll visit when you can.

  5. What a sweet picture! The doves that build in our spruce tree always make such pitifully built nests. A few little sticks put together so loosely that you can see the sky through them. I worried about those eggs and then the baby doves every time a storm came through last spring. The eggs and babies survived all of the storms last year. They didn't nest there this year.

  8. Hi Judy...I am so happy to meet you! Thank you for coming by and leaving your sweet comment so I could find your beautiful blog :)))
I love your new family of doves. I love doves and we have several that hang out here, but I have yet to be lucky enough to see their babies.

  10. Judy...these are so sweet! I have them nesting "on" my house all the time...window ledges, hanging plants, you name it. They do make flimsy nests. They sit on their eggs a long time...like 6 weeks and then the babies fly away after about two weeks. We've always had 2 babies. And the mommy and daddy mate for life! Isn't that cool!

    XO,
    Jane
