A Fun Antique & Craft Show

I went to a fun antique and craft show on Saturday here in Tulsa.  It is called "2 Friends and Junk".  They were here last year also.  It seems that the only thing I purchase from them tho are vintage linens.

I found a beautiful old "cutter" quilt that is actually much brighter than the photo - that's it on the left - plus two gorgeous vintage Christmas tablecloths.  They will make such pretty pillows for next year.

There was a gentleman there who did printing as you waited on bulap.  He had these pillow covers already made up and you told him what you wanted written on them.  He used a big Sharpie with the calligraphy point and does this free-hand.  I could have just stood there and watched him for hours.  Very talented.

Another pretty old tablecloth for pillows.

This was my haul.

Loved finding these old Christmas hankerchiefs.  The little shelf in the background is a spice rack with five little metal spice jars.

It seems tho that the craft shows are getting to where there is so much jewelry, clothing and food and there are very few handmade crafts.  I miss that.

Enjoy!

Judy

  4. I love the Christmas hankies! They bring back memories of my grandmothers and the hankies they used to carry. I often received them as gifts when I was little.

  5. Your textiles are gorgeous - always my weakness (but that quilt hardly even looks like a cutter)! That gentleman's free-hand work on your burlap pillow is fantastic too. I hope your Christmas gives you a sense of peace and joy as you gather with your loved ones, and cherish the memories of your closest one gone. Merry Christmas, Judy.

  13. Quite a nice haul! Like you I cannot pass up linens, I just love them so. You found some beautiful patterns. I have a problem I cannot cut them (old vintage linens up) even though I want to. I feel so guilty? Silly, aren't I. So glad you had a nice day at the show!

  15. Judy,
You made me smile today with this post. It was so good to read you went to this show. I know how much you love the treasures you find and the hunt for them. Good to see you venture and did this and enjoyed it. Love those burlap pillows hand done while you wait. So cool. I cannot wait to see the pillows you make out of the vintage table cloths.
Have a good week my friend.

  21. You made a great "haul", Judy.. I'll look forward to your creations for next Christmas.. I would loved to have watched the man using his talent with the Sharpie too.
I think you're right about craft shows and what is being sold.. It is so discouraging to go to a craft show and not find handmade items.. That's what crafts are all about.. Lots of jewelry (not handmade) is being sold here in Va. too.
    Thinking about you !

  26. You found some really beautiful linens! Love the burlap pillow cover with 20 North Ora on it. Very talented man indeed! I agree that most of the craft shows these days aren't what they used to be...there was so much better stuff (more handmade crafts) about 20 years ago. I don't even bother going to craft shows anymore.
