Progress on the Porch

First of all - thank you all for the sweet comments on my post yesterday on my anniversary.

I feel so special to have so many dear friends who I know really feel my pain and pray for me.  I feel those prayers on a daily basis.

Thank you sweet friends.

I have made some progress this week working on items for the screened in back porch.

I painted this little footstool and covered the top in a red patchwork fabric.  This will be cute sitting in front of one of the wicker chairs or for one of the little ones to sit on.

Remember my curb pick up?  The back was like a cardboard thin wood and I pulled it all off.  A sweet neighbor came over and helped me cut and nail on a new back for the piece.

Much sturdier now.

Put new hardware on the bottom of the hutch cabinet I've redone for the kitchen.

Love these new knobs from Hobby Lobby.

Went to Habitat for Humanity and bought this 7' tall side shutter.  Painted it black and am going to mount it on the side of the light and decorate with various items.

Found two baskets and sprayed them black to go in the shelf of this piece that has no drawer.

Painted this piece bright red to add a pop of color for the porch.

Am hoping to have the curb piece finished up tomorrow.  Can't wait to show it to you.

Had to have electrician come back and do some work before the dishwasher and microwave could be installed.  Electricians came on Tuesday and Lowes sent a guy on Thursday to install appliances.

I am completely finished with my contractor and have to say a big Thank You to Mike Self and his company Marble Elegance.  I have nothing but great things to say about them and will be using them again in the Fall for some work on my Granddaughter's home.

It was a great experience.  Now, if I can just get all of the finishing touches done.

Enjoy!

Judy

  7. I've enjoyed watching what you are doing with the porch. Please post a pic of your shudder when you decorate it. I really like that idea. I'm always amazed how simple throw away items can be turned into something great with just a coat of paint and imagination.

  20. I am not much of a red person in my own home, but I do love it in someone else's. The stool and little cabinet are such bright and cheery pieces. What color are you going to paint the curb piece or just leave it like it is?
    Have a great week, Judy!

You had a beautiful life with him and now you are going on with life and fixing up your home and it will be beautiful. This is how we get through the painful times and my thoughts and prayers are with you..Take care..Judy

  41. Your porch is going to be a stunner Judy, love those pops of color, it's so very bright and cheerful. I can only wish that we could find such lovely treasures on the side of the road here, nothing that compares to what you come across.

Glad to hear that you solved the problem.

  44. I adore that little stool, and can just see one of your little "grands" sitting there.....little ones are so drawn to things that are more their size. You are going to have the cheeriest room when you get finished!

Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my latest blog post about my hat! That style seems to be the easiest to work with at my "beginner" level!
