Oklahoma Wildfires Effect Sun

A couple of weeks ago, there were massive wildfires in the Mannford, Oklahoma area, right outside of Tulsa.

What you see above is it's effects on the sky and sun.

The chink out of the sun at the top right edge is the result of the density of the smoke. I had never seen anything quite like it.

The color is the result of the smoke and ashes.

It was quite an incredible sight.

Till Next Time, Judy

  1. I read about your terrible wildfires. We have a massive wildfire burning in the Sawtooth Mountains right now. The area is so remote and rugged that the fire crews have said that the fires will burn into fall. The skies here in Boise have been filled with smoke and the air quality is very poor. I am so looking forward to fall as I suspect you are.

  2. Oh my Judy, I am keeping you in my prayers. These photos are amazing, though, even though it is a scary image. I hope it rains hard and steady where it is needed. xo

  3. Hi Judy, I had heard about the fires in Oklahoma and was worried that they were near your home and Brenda's too.

Your pictures are amazing.. I've would never expect the sun to look like that being so far away.

I hope and pray that the fires will be contained very soon. We ALL need rain so badly.. We may get some here in Va. next week from "Issac". I sure hope so..

    Have a great weekend.

  4. I've never seen anything like that with the sun. I don't remember seeing it here when we had fires last year. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Still reminds me of a little chomper chomping words as he winds across a page. You were so smart to snag these!
