I had so much fun this morning - all in about one hour!! I saw a sign in my neighborhood that said "Mile Long Garage Sale". Well, come to find out, it was a neighborhood association sponsoring a garage sale that encompassed one square mile that surrounded my house! SCORE!
It was just one sale after another and I did find some goodies.
Aren't these plates gorgeous? The blue china "thing" is made to hold mail. Some pretty little dishes - see the one with the cherries in the upper photo?
On the whole front of the table are baby clothes. The lady said they were hers and had been made mostly by her aunt and grandmother. There was a whole sack of them. Can you see all of the beautiful embroidery on this one?
This wooden duck is a sewing caddy. The wings are padded for a pincushion and the dowels hold thread. There is a hole going from the back to the front of his head to hold a small pair of scissors.
I've always wanted a Hummel - but for fifty cents????
Of course, I found some pretty linens and doilies.....
a pretty piece of Silverplate.....
and this dainty little cup and saucer.
My good friend Dorothy has been helping me collect vintage salt and pepper shakers and had found all of these for me.
Thanks Dorothy!
So, I had a very good morning.
Enjoy!
Till next time, Judy
Wow - you did find some treasures. 50cts. for a hummel is unheard of now days.
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying the weekend.
Wow- You sure find some treasures. I LOVE that plate with the cherries on it and the salt & pepper shakers are adorable. My mother used to collect them, too. xo Diana

I am so jealous of all the lovely linens.
ReplyDeleteI use to live in New Braunfels. I'm trying to remember if that's the town with the Hummel museum or not...
ReplyDeleteBrenda
WOW, you really hit it big today. Wonderful items - love the linens and dish ware.
ReplyDeleteMary
You really hit the jackpot!! I LOVE garage sales!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! What a deal. And so close to home too. A Hummel for 50 cents? Just that would have made the short trip worth it. I sold most of my grandmother's collection a couple of years back. I wish I could remember the web site I used for my research.?? Anyway, I know it all has to do with the way they're marked on the bottom. That one looks like an oldie!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your bargains!
Wow -fabulous finds - the salt and pepper shakers are especially nice, I'd not seen any like that before - love the flowers on them. Sounds like a great day.

Looks like you had fun! I'm so curious...where do you keep all the stuff you buy? Oh, and have you seen tassels made from antique salt and peppers? You could certainly make a bunch of those. How are you displaying your s&p's? Wish I lived closer! Hope all is going well.
