A Well Spent $3.48

I do believe Spring is here!!  Last Saturday Tiffany and I were at Wal Mart and when you walked in the door they had some gorgeous plants.  They had beautiful palms that were probably 4-5 feet tall for $11.96.  I really had no place to put something that tall.  But, they did have these....

It was called a Spring Basket and was $3.48.  I thought - why not?

I have been amazed at what this has done in less than one week.  From that to this....

The flowers bloomed at such a fast pace that I kept grabbing my camera and taking several pictures a day.  Some of these were within hours of each other.

Mostly green with a hint of the hyacinths popping out.

Suddenly, the daffodils and/or jonquils opened up.

Next came the red tulips.

WOW is all I can say.  It was amazing to watch.  I must admit the hyacinths had almost too much of a sweet smell to be in the house but it was so miserable outside with all of the rain and gloom that I couldn't put them out.

Enjoy!

Judy

  4. Oh, Judy, that little pot is beautiful! Almost every year I buy a few plants similar to that (but usually just one variety) in a pot at WalMart. After the blooms are spent, I plant them somewhere in the yard. It's always a nice surprise to see whether they'll return. I have many plants - hyacinths, asiatic lilies and tulips - that have come back, year after year, to bring me repeated joy. I love the mixed variety! Definitely a good buy!

  5. I got a 4" mother-in-law tongue there for my kitchen window a few years ago. It's over 2 feet tall now. I think you have to get plants when they first come in at Walmart. You scored with those! Beautiful

  16. That really was money well spent! Those flowers are beautiful. It sounds like the experience of watching them bloom was as much fun as seeing them all done and adding beauty inside your home. They would definitely be nice to plant outside when the weather permits.

  21. I was happy to see that most of the snow melted while on my trip, but there is still quite a bit on our front yard which faces the north. I think I will have to see what plants our Wal-Mart has! I need Spring!
