Ta Da!!
This is my finished vintage iron baby bed for the new screened in porch.
This is how it started out. A vintage baby bed I got at an Estate Sale. I used it for years when I did arts and crafts show. I filled it with pillows that I had made.
So, here is how I did it. Bella wanted to help out!
It all started with these two vintage tablecloths I had. I had purchased one at an Estate sale and got the other one on EBay. I loved the red roses. I made a cover for the springs and cut the tablecloth and made the skirt around the bottom on all sides.
I took a outdoor weatherproof cushion for a chaise lounge and wrapped it in heavy, puffy batting. I wanted it to be real puffy.
I then covered the cushion in outdoor red fabric. I took the center panel of the tablecloth and made the back pillow and added some red and black pillows to the cushion.
I love it!
I am making a vinyl cover that will just cover the entire baby bed and when the weather gets bad, I can take all of the cushions off of all of the furniture and put in the baby bed and they will be protected for the winter.
I am asking for prayers for this precious little baby - this is Kaycee. She is the smaller of the twin great granddaughters. She only weighed 2# when she was born. She has been in and out of the hospital with lung problems.
She is going in the hospital tomorrow for a CAT scan for a mass she has in her lung that is growing. Just pray that it will be something that can be taken care of easily for her and us.
I know that God will be with her and the doctors and we will handle the situation whatever it is.
Thank you in advance for your prayers.
Judy
That crib is absolutely adorable! Just the most charming transformation and it looks just like you. Love it! Yes, you have my prayers for darling little Kaycee. It breaks my heart to see little ones suffer. If I could take that mass for Kaycee and deal with it myself I would be happy to. But I also believe in God's faithfulness to those who are faithful to Him. I will put all this burden on His shoulders. God bless you dear friend.

ReplyDeleteDearest Judy - prayers on being sent for Kaycee. I know how worried you must be. That dear girl has already been through so much.
ReplyDeleteThe bed is absolutely beautiful. I've always loved that look of an iron bed made into a sofa. Years and years ago - when I was in college, so you know that's a long time ago - a costume designer friend of mine did that in her apartment. It was the first time I'd seen any transformation like that and I still remember it vividly.
Much love,
Claudia
