I am moving! Not too far but into another home. It's a long story I will try to condense.
My granddaughter Tiffany is raising her sister's three little precious girls. Long story that I won't go into. Her home is close to me but it only has two bedrooms and as the girls grow, they have definitely outgrown that house.
So, I took Tiffany out to look at this house that was for sale. She didn't like it at all - however, I fell in love with the possibilities of it.
So, I'm buying this house which is only about a mile away and Tiffany and the girls are moving into my home. I could never sell this house because of all of the memories here, but with Tiffany here - it'll be OK.
Now, I am taking on a new home at the age of 71. Crazy, eh? But I am looking forward to the prospect of getting to completely redecorate it and it will really keep me busy for the next year.
Now, on to the new house. By the way, the outside color on the first photo will definitely be changed in the Spring. The house was owned by an older couple and everything in the house is pink and aqua.
So, there will be lots of changes in the months to come. The good thing is I'm using the same contractor I used on my house, so I don't have a lot of decisions to make. I'm using alot of the same colors, etc.
The living and dining room have beautiful new hardwood floors. Really pretty windows also.
The kitchen has been redone with all new granite, backsplash and appliances. However, I can not handle the curly trim on the cabinets so we are trying to figure out how to make them go away!
This is the den. (Notice the pale pink walls) It has gorgeous original wood peg floors. Love them.
Would you believe another pink bathroom? I just got rid of pink in my bathroom. LOL This will be completely gutted and start all over.
The back yard is really pretty and has been professionally landscaped.
And yea!! It has a screened in back porch. It's not as pretty as the one I just did but will be when I get finished with it.
This is going to be my work room. As much as I don't like the pinkish ceramic tile, I think I'm going to leave it. It will be very practical to paint and sew on. There is so much storage in this home.
So, I will be closing on this new house in the next week or so and will start the redo. There are no window treatments in any room but the work room, so I will have lots of sewing to do.
The amazing thing is that I have no deadline to get the new house ready to live in. Tiffany has her house and so when I am ready she will move into this one. An extra plus is that the contractor wants to buy her home. So, it has just gone so smoothly that I am amazed. I know that this move is in God's and John's plans because every move has just be so smooth and quick that there were no roadblocks of any kind along the way.
So, am I crazy or what?
Enjoy!
Judy

ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting. It is like apple basket turnover. Your house looks beautiful. I think it is perfect with a few things to do to make it suit you better. And your granddaughter is moving into yours. That is wonderful. Know you are a happy camper.

ReplyDeleteIt's really cute, and congratulations. I think the pink bathroom is adorable, so fifties, but the camera probably doesn't show the issue. I like the tile in the craft room, and if you look on Pinterest, patterned tile seems to be coming coming back. You will have fun. It seems to be in really good condition, mostly cosmetic and making it personal. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteWhat a great house, Judy! Like Su, I think the vintage pink bathroom is adorable. Is the tile in bad shape? Or you just don't like that vintage look or color? Whatever the case, it's your house and you're going to have loads of fun getting it just the way you want it! Congratulations. xo ~ Nancy
ReplyDeleteOh Judy,
ReplyDeleteYou will have your hands full for a while...But I think it is pretty exciting. I am glad to hear that everything this far has gone smoothly. Congratulations on your new home.

❤️Ana

ReplyDeleteWow! I am so happy for you Judy...I can tell how excited you are. This house has so many wonderful features...and that kitchen is amazing...I actually could live with the curly thingies...lol! It is amazing how this all worked out together! Can't wait to see all of your great updates!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! We can feel your excitement through your post. It all has worked out for all of you, even the contractor.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have fun and I look forward to seeing all that you do.

So happy for you!! I'm looking forward to all your posts about the renovations and decorating you'll be doing in your new home. Love your big, big new workroom--consider me jealous!
ReplyDeleteJudy,
ReplyDeleteExcited for you! What a cute house. Can't wait to see the progress!
How exciting but it makes me tired to think of all the work involved for you.maybe i'm showing my age LOL
ReplyDeleteLove that you have a sun room already on the house and the kitchen looks great
Congratulations
No, not crazy. You obviously have tons of energy! Moving is a good way to pare things down. Glad that you have a good contractor, too. The new house looks wonderful...now I'm going back to see what your granddaughter will be enjoying.
ReplyDeleteNothing brightens the spirit more than the adventure of a new house. At any age! Congratulations to you!!
ReplyDeleteHi Judy,
DeleteYour comment box did not appear for me, so I am writing here!
Congrats on your new home!!! It has a lot of potential and just with a few tweaks that you are going to make to it, it will completely represent you. Looking forward to seeing all your creativity doll up the space!

OMG Judy this is awesome. What a great win win for everyone. The girls will have a beautiful home to live in with lots and lots of memories and you will have a fun new place to make your own. Love those hard wood floors. Gorgeous. I will have so much fun going along with you with all the changes to this lovely home. Congrats.

This all is so God guided it makes me tear up! What a great opportunity for all of you. We are 72 and are just finished building a new cabin. It is very stimulating to build or remodel...keeps us young, active and engaged.
ReplyDeleteSo happy with your good fortune; surely God has guided you. I think John's presence will be felt in this new home, too. The icing on the cake will be that Tiffany will have no mortgage to pay and the contractor wants to purchase her house, so she will have money from the sale to put aside for the girl's college funds. You all are truly BLESSED by God.
ReplyDeleteWhen you started renovating your present home, could you have EVER imagined that the contractor you hired for the redo would turn into such a valuable friend, contractor and buyer in your not-too-distant future, which is now? Amazing!!!!!
That is exciting Judy and that house has many nice features!
ReplyDeleteThat is exciting Judy and that house has many nice features!
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Judy, and no, I do NOT think you are crazy. 71 is the new 51! Best of luck and I will be looking forward to updates.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love it! This is so exciting, Judy, and I know that as smoothly as everything went that you were meant to have this house. I will be looking forward to seeing you make this house your own. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteSo many comments that I almost just emailed you. I love your new house! Wish I had lots of time to move! Talk to you soon! XO
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I agree that this is a dog thing.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your granddaughter didn't like this new home! It is GORGEOUS and that kitchen and all the space... awesome! But it sounds as if it is all working out just so great and you have a wonderful contractor to do the new work.... but just having gone though all that updating and fixing... how brave to do it all again! I love the pink bathroom, but then I just painted my master bedroom pink! This should be a fun adventure... and the yard is big and beautiful and lots of room to play. Will be fun to see what you do as time goes by.
ReplyDeleteI love the new house...wonder why she didn't like it?...maybe all the pink ??
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you are going to start all over again ...but it will be fun and keep you busy.
Judy, the way things have fell into place it certainly does seem to be meant to be! Love the gorgeous floors and I know that you will turn it into a real beauty! Can't wait to see the progress. Good that you already have a contractor that you like!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Judy, I am so happy for you. It will be fun to start this project and make it your own. And what a wonderful blessing for Tiffany to get to live in your home. A double win in my book. xo Dianne
ReplyDeleteno you are not crazy.....You will have such a good time re-doing and personalizing this charming home.Love the beautiful floors and that workroom.....wowzer!
ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like a whirlwind hit! Finding a new home (when you weren't even looking) and someone for your current home. What a charming house. I like it -- even the curly kitchen trim!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I think you'd be crazy to NOT do it! When God wants something for one of his children, he makes it almost too simple, doesn't he? I thank Him for your blessings. You and your granddaughter certainly deserve it. I'd definitely change those colors but the pink tile floor doesn't look so bad. I'm guessing, if your work room is anything like mine, the floor will be unnoticeable by the time you get everything in there. I absolutely love the house. The space. The windows. THE FLOORS! I look forward to reading about all your re-dos. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is the perfect ray of sunshine for you Judy! I think it's great. I love the layout of the house.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for your adventure!
Great news. I will be checking in to see your updates : )
Deb
If you're crazy, it's my kind of crazy! I think this undertaking is just what the Dr. ordered. What a perfect solution for you and Tiffany! Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new home. It looks really nice and I bet you'll have it fixed to your liking in no time.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new house Judy. All that pink! My youngest daughters beau lost her grandmother last year and Hannah said her bathroom was turquoise even the toilet! Some people like all that colorful coloring! Hee Hee! You have a kind heart and I wish you and Tiffany allt he best with your homes.
ReplyDeleteOh Judy, This is such wonderful news. My mom recently bought her first home alone at aged 79. You can do this and you will Love it! So happy you are not selling the home you shared with John. So excited for you! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeletePraise for Led Christmas Tree
ReplyDeleteI ordered a Led Christmas Tree from bizarkdeal.com. This tree has me excited for the winter holidays. Right now, we have it in our living room. It will make a great addition to the outdoors when winter comes, though. According to my husband (who couldn't wait for me to get home from work before he set it up), it was easy to put together and the LED lights are "the real deal" - he's a light expert, apparently (wink). The kids keep going in the room and ooo'ing and ahh'ing at the tree, too. The tree did come with a set of snowflakes. I am not sure if it's because it's just the start of fall, but I wasn't exactly in love with the way they hung on the tree. The lights on the snowflakes are a different brilliancy than the tree itself, so they sort of stood out. Maybe outside I'll get it? Also, because we haven't had it outside yet / for the winter, I do want to note that the cord is thinner and less rugged than I'd expect for an outdoor tree. We will have to test it later this year and see how that goes. All in all, a great decoration for your home. (Note - I was provided this tree for review; all opinions are 100% my own.)
