A Little Girl Project

Since I have one great granddaughter and am expecting twins - both girls in December, I thought I probably needed to come up with some cute little girl projects.

I had seen something like this on Pinterest and thought it was such a cute idea.

What spurred me on was when I went to Michaels, in their dollar bins, they had these Mary Englebreit paper dolls.  You get three dolls, two scenes and four pages of clothes.

So, I was in Wal Mart grocery shopping and just happened to wander over into the home goods department.  There, I found this really nice looking 7" x 14" frame for $3.00.

I cut a piece of scrapbook paper for the backing and glued the paper doll onto the scrapbook paper.  Then, I put the piece in the frame and closed it up from the back.

I then, took baker's twine in pink and red and draped it across the bottom of the frame.  Using these teensy tiny clothespins (which I got at WM also), I pinned the clothes onto the twine.  I hot glued the twine on the back of the frame.  You'll probably need to add a dab or two of glue to the backs of one or so of the clothes and/or accessories.  The weight of the clothespins has a tendency to tip over and make the clothes go upside down.  So, just a dab will do ya!

I think for under $5.00, this would make a darling baby gift or a birthday gift.  The only time consuming part was cutting out the paper doll and clothes.

Enjoy!

Till next time, Judy

  5. Oh Judy, how cute are those pictures. I love paper dolls. I used to get her magazine and she always had a picture in there that you could frame so I saved them and the paper dolls. My granddaughter loved the dolls.
    Great idea, thank for sharing.
