The Porch Is Done!!

Well, my little porch on my craft/storage workroom is done!! We have worked on it off and on since spring but it finally is completely finished - except for one small thing and I'll get to that later on.

Remember the progression of the old front door and the pallets for steps?

Remember the old headboard I tore apart and used for the railing?

And the $5.00 posts I'd had in the storage building for years?

Well, all put together, this is what I ended up with!!  I couldn't just have a porch and no decor now could I?

I found this rattan shelf for $10.00 at a sale and it fit perfectly on the side of the porch.

I got some inexpensive lace panels and put a rod at the top and the bottom of the back side of the porch and ran the panels thru the rods.  That way, I can take them down when the weather gets bad.

Remember the delicate birdcage and stand I found a few weeks ago?  I sprayed it and filled the cage with little live plants and some fall leaves.

I made a mistake by painting the porch white - it showed every footstep.  So, what do you do?  You paint a rug on the porch, right?

Here are the stepping stones I painted earlier in the summer in the various colors.  My one thing to do next summer is to try and plant that Irish moss between all of the stepping stones.

And here is my cute Koi fish.  He'll probably be hibernating for the winter when the weather changes.  It's nice to have a Koi and not have to tend to a pond.  LOL

The chair was Landen's and I wanted to enjoy it so I put it out with a few decorations.

The scarecrow on the front door I have had for years.

So, I hope you have enjoyed the journey with me on my little front porch out back.  I wish I could tell you the inside is just as cute - BUT, it is a mess.  Loaded to the hilt.  But, I will work on that.

This was truly a recycling venture!!

Enjoy!

Till next time, Judy

  10. Love every bit, totally fell in love with the painted rug with tassels. Love the lace curtain, the entire tiny porch is just full of happy surprises. Hope it will be warm enough to work inside as you pull all the 'stuff' into the spaces and create the workroom of your dreams.

Health wise things are going well, radiation 'burn' is still there but I am thinking it is getting a bit smaller in area. I also think/dream/hope that I am seeing a bit of white stubble growing on my scalp .

Sending more postive thoughts and prayers for you and John.

  15. Very creative and so cool looking. Makes me want to get outside and work on the porch to my wool house, and then do something with the bags and bags of wool that I need to work on to get to the mill and then I will have room to work on the inside.

  27. What a darling "fairy tale" porch! I have been loving aqua blue for awhile now... and seeing it with the oranges for Fall is very inspiring! I hope the inside will be as wonderful as your porch is... and the shelf with the aqua and orange doodads is wonderful as well as the lace curtains. And I thought the rug was real when I first looked at it! clever you are.

You are so good at recycling and coming up with great ideas for "alternative" uses. Love your blog and hope you and hubby are doing well healthwise.

  38. Ditto what the other commenters have said....It's all so pretty and clever! I will probably use your koi and your rug tassels as inspiration. I've already drawn a sketch of a faux rug for my porch; your tassels in living color will be a wonderful guide.

The koi stepping stone is beautiful, too.
