Saturday Treasures 10/12/2013

Today I hit two garage sales and one estate sale.  This is my "loot".

Isn't this cup and saucer just beautiful?  It is marked "Fine Bone China Crown Staffordshire England".  I thought the saucer was especially pretty with the little ring of flowers.

This is a decorative wall plate made by Wood and Sons/England in the Ascot pattern.

Don't know what the little piece on the back left is - any ideas?  It is marked "Haddon Hall/Minton 1793 Bone China Made in England".  The pretty little chinz cup didn't have a saucer but I loved it anyway.  It is marked "Made in Great Britain/Rosalynde".

A nice silver trophy cup???? and a set of s/p shakers.

You would not believe how heavy this set of s/p shakers are.  I'm sure they are cut crystal with silver lids.  And a darling silver oblong tray.

Some precious little Cocker Spaniel figurines and the tiniest clock you ever did see to go in my clock collection.

I swooned when I saw these.  It's a partial set but will be so pretty to decorate with.  I think I got eleven pieces.  They are marked "Countryside Wedgwood & Co Ltd./ England".

In addition, I got two really nice painted tole trays - one rectangular and one round, a china creamer, and a small bag of lace and notions.

Fun day!

It was a beautiful day in Oklahoma!!

Enjoy!

Till next time, Judy

  1. Judy,
I need to go to garage sales with you. You find the best stuff. I would guess that piece was for sugar packettes and then you said the date of 1700's so I do not think they had sugar packets then!!! Ha Ha!!!! Lovely treasures.

  2. Countryside is very popular with the collectibles crowd, hard to find and sells quickly. Good finds. Very quiet of the gs/estate sales in my area, its a long weekend and that always seems to be 'few' gs's.

  5. I also went out today. There were lots of tag sales. Lots. I started out at 8:30 with a friend and stopped around 1. Some days are better than others. Today I did get a few things .. a maple table with a built in magazine rack. I love looking at furniture (and buying it if it's cheap enough). Nice visiting. Linda

  6. The salt and pepper shakers are so pretty! Could the china piece be for calling cards? I have no idea, just a guess. Lovely tole trays, too! I just got back from an estate sale, myself, and found some great deals. Woo hoo! Have a good weekend!

  12. Fabulous finds! Can't believe that itty bitty clock, it's so cute and I've never seen anything like that. Those blue and white plates...I have a whole stack of the little ones that I got while thrifting. I use some of them under potted plants!

  17. Great finds. I love the little dog figurines, and even though you only found one chintz piece, that alone is perfect. Chintz is one of my favorites.

  19. What a great haul, I love china especially Royal Worcester and Spode because I used to work for them. You've found some lovely pieces, but I'm afraid I don't know what the Minton piece is for.
Thanks for visiting my blog, following you back.

  23. Judy,
I found your blog while searching the internet. Just in case you are still wondering, the little Minton piece you have is a cigarette holder: http://www.replacements.com/webquote/M__HAH.htm. I have the same piece, but mine has the green edge and yours is gilt. I too, love finding lovely, homeless pieces; there is always a new use for them, don't you agree?

  24. Hi. The little Minton piece is for holding cigarettes back in the day when everyone had one on their coffee table.
