What A Beautiful Day In Oklahoma!!

This Saturday is such a beautiful day!  The sun is shining and John has had a great day.  He even wanted to go out for a short ride and we stopped and got a hot fudge sundae on the way home.  How much better can life get?

The Mums are beginning to fade a little, but still bright yellow and cheery.

Didn't the Lord do a great job when He invented the Kale?

Pansies are thriving in this weather.

Now......to the mystery of the Hydrangea!

I've talked to several others this summer whose hydrangeas have not bloomed at all.  All of a sudden, mine is loaded in blooms.  What's the deal?

Little bits of color are popping out.  I couldn't believe it when I went out to water and saw the centers of the plant all turning into the gorgeous hydrangeas.

Well, whenever and however they bloom, I will enjoy them.  They are one of my favorite flowers.  I just could not imagine why they were not blooming all summer.  Usually the bush is just covered.

Can't wait to show you the Halloween costumes I am working on for Laynee and the twins.  They are just precious.  Do I have you wondering what they are going to be?

Hope so!

Enjoy!

Judy

  4. Hi Judy,
So happy to hear John was up for an outing and to finish off with a hot fudge sunday. Yum!!!! It does not get any better than that. Maybe with the wacky winter we all had it kept the hydrangeas from blooming until now. Mine were pretty sparse this summer with the harsh winter we had here in the midwest. Have a great day. It was good to read your post and see John was having a great day. I cannot wait to see the costumes.

  10. Oh Judy, I am so happy that John wanted to go for a ride and a sundae also, yum yum. I love a hot fudge sundae.
Speaking of flowers being crazy, my iris are re-blooming again and again. They have NEVER done that. they are not the kind that re-blooms. Also my roses were so pretty in April and May and they did not perform hardly at all in June. July and August. I guess it was just to hot and we do have a drought here is So CA.
Anxious to see the girls costumes
I miss not having small ones around.
Take care my dear and enjoy the weekend.

  20. I am so glad that you and John had such a great day! Our plants have also bloomed at odd times this summer. But not surprising with the brutal winter, cold wet spring and then such dry times. Not a normal summer at all. I think the whole season got turned around!

  24. I have one hydrangea that has bloomed one year and not the next.. Then, there is the other one that hasn't bloomed at all. I would love to see pretty blooms on both of them .. I will hold out for next summer.
Hot fudge sundaes are so good for what ails a body, mind and spirit.. I'm happy that you and John got out of the house and had a nice day.. I know you are an inspiration to your sweet husband..
Thinking about both of you and keeping you in my prayers..

  25. Sometimes it's the small things in life that matter the most, sharing treats on a drive sounds like a great way to spend time together.

  27. beautiful "still blooming" garden. Our fall in Northern Indiana has been dreary to say the least. But today will be our 3rd sunny day in a row, which has been a novelty this fall.

Can't wait to see your Halloween costumes. I LOVE Halloween!

  28. So happy for you. It was beautiful here also and looks like Sunday will be more of the same. I have a bloomer (don't know what it is) that bloomed during June and July and now has tons of buds. Weird timing. Seems to me like the temp zones are moving to the East across the USA. Like we are getting more of New Mexico or Arizona weather here. I love your happy post. You and John are in my thoughts and on my prayer list! Instapray is an amazing phone app where people pray from all over the world! XO

  32. So happy you and John got out and had a good day....my Hydrangea acted the same way, no blooms all summer long and now they have blooms galore! I love kale, to eat and for fall color. I wish this weather could last forever!

  33. So glad you both has a good day out and about. Ice cream with hot fudge...yummy!

  34. I'm so glad you and John had a nice day. Isn't it nice to get surprises in the garden? I love hydrangeas, but don't have much luck with them.
I can't wait to see the Halloween costumes! Take care.

  35. You can't know how happy I am that you and your hubby had such a lovely day...and ice cream, too! Flowers have been tricky this year, haven't they? I know it has got to do with the unseasonably warm temps right now. Orange blossoms, which are THE thing in the spring, have arrived on the scene; it's crazy, but the scent is heaven!!

    Have a lovely day, Judy!

  36. I've had that happen before where my hydrangeas don't bloom well. I don't know why either. I planted a new one this year and it did great! It gets more sun than the others that don't bloom as much. Maybe that's the secret.

  37. Glad your hydrangeas are blooming, Judy and that you and John had a lovely day topped off by ice cream! Love to you, my friend and love to John.
