A Month That Is Gone

Nothing brightens up a gloomy November day like playing with the dollhouse and Laynee.

And dressing her AG doll (which she reminded me needs alot of new clothes for Christmas).

We also played around with french braiding her curly hair.  Remember she cut her own bangs several months ago so the sides are still growing out.  But, she has gorgeous little curls in the back.

We went to my sister's home for Thanksgiving.  It is fun having little ones crawl all over everywhere.  It has been several years since we've had little ones.

I'm always requested to bring my German Chocolate cake made from scratch and Hummus.  Those are my two requests always.

We went to decorate the graves at the cemetery for Christmas.  It was the first time I had been back at the cemetery since John's funeral.  It was a sad time.

Then, I come home to a city water main break in front of my drive way.  They drove all of this heavy duty equipment onto my drive way and yard and demolished it.  Cracked the drive way into a thousand pieces.  I still have a huge ditch across the front yard which has not been filled in.  I will give the benefit of the doubt that it will be fixed.

And then, it definitely will be fixed!

Have been making Christmas runners out of printed burlap.  Have alot of pretty ones.  And a few Christmas pillows.

These are all ready and can be shipped immediately.

Be back real soon.

  1. I'm so glad that you were able to spend Thanksgiving with family, Judy. Being around little ones is always wonderful. This has been such a hard month for you. xo Laura

  2. Hugs from sweet little ones, treasures. I think of you often and say a prayer. Hugs.

  3. My favorite photo is the back of Lainey's hair. She is growing so fast! A year of firsts. Yes, will be hard. We'll all be here though, to make sure you get through it.

  4. Those little ones will certainly make it easier but will not replace the emptiness. I can't imagine and won't pretend too. I hate it when people say, "I know how you feel." They mean well, but pain is personal. I learned that very early when I lost my little brother. I can somewhat undestand when someone loses a brother, mother or father but can comprehend the loss of a child or a lifetime partner.Prayer for you my friend.

  5. Enjoy the little ones while you can, as they grow up fast. Glad to hear you had family to spend time with.
    Have a great week.

  6. I thought about you on Thanksgiving...I know this season will be especially tough on you. You always are welcome here at our house if you need a get away. Bring your sewing machine, too. :P

I am happy to know that you spent Thanksgiving with family. What joy that must have been. And Laynee is such a doll! LOVE her braid. Good job, grandma!!

    big hugs,

  7. Having little ones around has helped me get through the darkest days after losing my Mark. It is amazing how God places them in our lives at just the right time. I'm happy that you are staying busy, your runners and pillows are so pretty. I'll have to check out your Etsy! Blessings to you, Judy!!

  8. Judy I am so glad you got family time at Thanksgiving. Somehow being around little one's makes things so much better! Keeping busy is good. Thinking of you as we enter December.

  9. Sorry to hear about the water main damage, hopefully it will be fixed better than before. Seems like whenever we are in a time of grieving, something like this happens to us...I joke that God is trying to keep me busy. I know the holidays will be a lonely time for you, and I am glad you have family and friends. Love the photos of the sweet little ones...xo

  10. I'm happy you were able to spend Thanksgiving with your family. Laynee is adorable even with her bangs growing out. Sorry about your water main break..My Mom made a mean German Chocolate cake too. see was a great cook, when I seen the photo of the cake it made me think of her!

  11. Hi Judy,
You have been through so much and I was happy to see you post today and glad that you could be with family for the holidays. What sweet pics of all the kids. Just adorable. 12. Little ones can put smiles on faces. It's good that you were with your family at Thanksgiving. Pretty runners.
    Take care.

  13. Those little ones are the best therapy. I'm sure it must feel lonely without your husband. You took such good care of him. Hoping the holidays will be cheerful for you. do take care of yourself. HUGS

  14. That Laney is just a doll. Loved her hair braided. Good to be able to spend time with family for Thanksgiving. I know it's got to be so difficult right now adjusting to life without John. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  15. How adorable Laynee is! Children are so sweet to be around and soothe the soul especially at sad times. I often think of you, Judy. Still use the little stripy pillow you made me, and am getting out those adorable little Xmas trees today too, they are all lovely.
    Sending love. Helen xox

  16. What beautiful, shiny locks your Laynee has - like golden fields of wheat! I'm so glad that were surrounded by your wonderful, growing family at Thanksgiving, with all those tiny tots trekking around!

    Wishing you a peaceful December.

  24. Glad to see your post, Judy! It sounds like a good Thanksgiving surrounded by family and those you love. I hope you are doing okay. I'm sure going home and seeing that mess on your driveway wasn't the best thing in the world, but I'd hope for the best and be positive, too.

  25. Hi Judy, I bet those beautiful little ones perk up the holidays. I can't wait until we have little ones in our family again - especially if one is my grandchild someday! I'm sure it was very hard for you to go back to John's grave, especially since it was the first time since his passing. I still don't like going to Phil's grave. Sorry to hear of the water main break and that your driveway is all torn up. Terrible! They'd better be fixing it soon. xoxo

  26. So glad that you spent Thanksgiving with your family. Your granddaughter is so pretty and her hair is like gold. It's so good that you have little ones around to help with loneliness.
Take care my dear friend, we are all here when and if you need us.

  27. Dear One...I've thought of you thru the month of Nov and pray for a more comforting December for you and yours.

  28. Little Laynee is adorable and she has such pretty hair! I'm so glad you had family to be with at Thanksgiving. I'm sorry about your yard and driveway getting torn up and hope they will fix it back up for you!

  29. Glad you had a lovely Thanksgiving although I am sure it was very hard for you. Love your beautiful outlook on life.
    Hugs to you,

  30. That's a bunch of precious little ones playing in that room. How fun!

I can't believe that happened to your yard and driveway. Let's think positively that it will all be fixed without a hitch. Fingers crossed.

  31. Hi, Judy. I sent you an e-mail. Also, thank you for your recent comment on my blog. xoxo
