A month or so ago, I was in Target and saw this gorgeous paper floral swag. It was in their Threshold collection.
Today, needing something to brighten up my day due to the continuous rain and dark clouds, I put it up in my entry over my swag there.
Aren't these flowers just beautiful?
It helped perk up my spirits.
Tiffany and I ventured to Texarkana, Texas this weekend to visit with my son and knew there was water down there - more than in Oklahoma.
Well - there was definitely water.
When we crossed the Red River going into Texas, there was maybe 6" of water on the bridge but the highway patrol were there letting thru one lane at a time very slowly.
It rained the whole weekend and when we started back home, the highway crossing the Red River was under water and completely closed. They were letting no one thru.
So, we backtracked about 2 1/2 hours and stopped and ask some local sweet people how to get across. They directed us to some backroads which we did and amazingly enough, got thru.
It was really scary tho to see all of that water a foot or so from the roads and all of the fields completely covered. We went thru one town where the football field was under water.
So, remember to pray for safety for all of those involved.
Other than that, Tiff and I had a good trip and visit.
I would like to say thank you for all of the positive emails I have received over the weekend regarding friendship.
Thank you for being such good friends in the blogging world.
Judy
your garland looks beautiful! I love the flowers,
ReplyDeletesounds like you had a great time except for the scary flooding, it sure looks bad on tv, our news covers the american weather and its been so bad, I love that name Texarkana! Makes me think of John Wayne and cowboys!
Well-first off that paper garland is just beautiful. Secondly- I got chills just reading that about the water. One time we were "caught" on a bridge that had a "dip" in it and was open on both sides. Our car stalled out and was starting to go to the side towards the swollen river. People that were standing on the other side came rushing over and PUSHED our car back to the solid ground that was behind us. We all got out of the car (I had the 4 kids with us) and then they pushed the car further back onto the road until it was out of the water. I have never forgot the panic I felt and I have been a bit afraid of water on the road since then. Glad you got through safely- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, we will be praying for those flooded. Glad yall got back safely. LOVE the swag on the drapery- it really does brighten things up :) ox
ReplyDeleteI wondered if you had encountered bad weather and flooding would certainly be included in that category. Glad you are safe, my dear friend, and that your visit was a good one. I will certainly pray for everyone in Texas. Such a tragedy.
ReplyDeleteLove the swag

Judy, Glad you returned home safe. I love your new garland. It could be used on a mirror too. I also like your lace curtains. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteJudy, your swag is so pretty! We have gotten way too much rain here too but hopefully it's going to even out now. Sunshine today. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you made it home safely! Living down here in "flood central" I know how bad it is and how just a little extra rain can create huge problems for overly saturated ground and swollen streams and rivers. That sway is so pretty and yes it sure is cheerful and brings in some happiness.
ReplyDeleteBig Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
The garland is beautiful...and you say it's paper? Glad your back safe and sound.. It's been non-stop raining here in IL too, but nothing like poor texas is getting. So wish we could send it to CA.
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty find, it's paper? it looks gorgeous on your swag. Glad you made it safely home from your visit. Water is so scary!
ReplyDeleteJudy, that garland is very sweet and would make me smile also. Glad you had a good weekend. I have been praying for those in these flooded areas!

I love the floral garland, Judy. It looks perfect hanging across your swag and brightens it up. I'm glad you were able to visit with your son, but that's really scary about all the water. Thank God you and Tiffany made it there and back safely!
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, your flower garland is very cheering. Scary driving home because of the depth of the water. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteLove the garland Judy. So pretty. Wow you and Tiff had quite the trip. So glad you had safe travels home. It is devastating to see the damage of all the floods.

The garland is just beautiful. I never see these things at Target. I just looked back and saw the playhouse. I have seen puppet theaters like that. I just love your idea.
ReplyDeleteFlooding is so scary. Like the family that the dad survived. Last I knew they found one of his children but another and the mother and her parents haven't been found. You just don't know when it will happen.
I am afraid I would have been a bit freaked out by taking the back roads. Glad you made it hoe safely and had a nice visit.
I have several friends who live in Texas and have been communicating with them often. It's been a terrible month of rain and loss. So glad you and Tif made it home safely! Praying that the rain stops and you begin to feel the benefits of the moisture with beautiful greenery and flowers! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThe garland is so pretty!! Glad you made it home safely. Flooding is so scary...it is so sad to see all the damage that it does.

We have had so much rain and flooding in Texas. In fact one of my dearest friends lives in the town of Wimberely where that 40 foot wall of water destroyed so many homes and hurt people. I live in the Dallas area and fortunately we have not been impacted by the flooding, although there are many roads closed near me. I am thankful you are back home safe. Your garland is charming.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Texas and it has been horrible! Glad you made it safely!

I'm so glad you're safe but the stories of those who perished are heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are lovely!
O, so glad you got back safely. They tell me that the water may not look too bad on the road but when you try to cross it, it just sweeps you away.
ReplyDeleteI am so lovin' your pretty paper flowers...so bright and cherry...how pretty that would be, too, wrapped around a grapevine wreath and a new way to use it.
And, then, I just saw on tv that a cruise ship carrying 458 people got in a storm and high winds blew it over and it sank...only 15 survivors so far....
Hi Judy, I saw your comment and mention of Oklahoma on 44th Street Fabric blog and started reading some of your posts. I see you were raised in Pryor - that's where my Mom was born. I was born in Chelsea and raised in Bixby. I had to laugh at some of the things you wrote about - reading Dick and Jane and Spot books and your folks being afraid you'd name your baby sister Spot. :) I have a vivid memory of reading from one of those books to my Daddy - we had to read out loud and I'm sure he was mesmerized. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo nice reading about names of places I recognize. I miss Oklahoma!
I love your wonderful garland...paper, too! Glad you were okay after the bad storms!
ReplyDeleteYour garland is so pretty and colourful! So glad you got home safely, you are both such intrepid travellers, dear Judy!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy weekend.

Thank you for visiting today. Judy wouldn't it be lovely to spend real time together ! I think of you every single day and send good thoughts and prayers your way.

Your flower garland says "summer" for sure and how lovely. You were brave to travel in those areas that have gotten so much rain. We have too but no flooding here thank goodness. Glad you got to visit and got home safe and sound.
