Memories

As I have been putting my new home together, I realize how important memories and family heirlooms are to the memory of growing up.

This piece I made last night honoring my "Nana".  My Nana was my Mom's Mom and lived with us from the time I was in the first grade.  She was so creative and did the most gorgeous embroidery and crochet work.  I know that is where my Mom got all of her talent.

This piece has a small silver frame with a photo of my Nana and my son at about 18 months of age.  The watch was my Nana's and I have had it since she passed away. I ask for her button box after she passed and the watch was in this huge box that she collected buttons ins.  She cut the buttons off of anything that was worn out and about to be thrown away. I decided it wasn't doing any good being stowed away and I wanted to get it out and displayed.

So, I made the insert for this frame loaded with the photo, her watch and lots of vintage fabric, lace, trim and buttons.  The lacy hankerchief hanging off at the bottom was hers also.

In other things making memories....

precious great grandson Bentley turned one....

and one day when I picked up the girls at daycare, we went to Braums for ice cream.

These are things that I hope will make precious memories for them.

Enjoy!

Judy

  6. Hi Judy, Love the keepsake memory frame you designed using your Nana's treasures. She sounds so much like my grandmother who I also called Nana. I have many of her crocheted items and she taught me to embroider when I was just 7 years old. Your display piece is a treasure.

Love the M&M's (memory makers) in your photos. Happy Birthday to your darling grandson and the girls look so happy as they enjoy their ice cream!!

Have a great week and enjoy the sunshine this week. xo
