My Redo on My Room Divider Screen

I immediately knew upon moving into my new home that I needed something to disguise the view of my craft room.  LOL  It is open from the kitchen and since I knew it would be a disaster most of the time with me working in there and all of my supplies, I started looking for a screen to use until I redo the kitchen completely and block that room from view.

I found this three panel screen at Hobby Lobby for under $50.00 with a coupon.  It had burlap panels that had velcro strips at the top and bottom of each panel so they could be removed.

Enter an old vintage quilt that was beyond usable for anything practical.

I cut it into strips for the panels and just hand sewed the quilt pieces over the burlap panels.  For you quilt lovers, don't panic.  The quilt was in really bad shape with a lot of torn and worn places.  If you look closely, there were several places I had to hand stitch doilies on top of places that were almost completely worn thru.

I'm excited because it turned out exactly as I envisioned it being.  I tried to match the quilt pattern across all three panels and did pretty good.

It will work perfectly for now!  I love when something comes together like you want it to.

Around the house....

My cup holder with some of my small white creamers.

And the queen of the castle...

Enjoy!

Note:  Something happened and my blog list totally disappeared a few days ago.  I am working on restoring it but it does take time.

Judy

  1. Judy, You did a fabulous job on the screen. You reworked that old quilt and got some good use of it. That's a plus. I like all the creamers too. Hope you are doing well. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Thanks Susie. It was not able to be used for anything because of so many holes and worn spots. But, I was able to get the three panels out of fairly good pieces. Thanks for visiting.

  2. Hi Judy,
This is so creative and awesome. Love it. Someone else just was saying they lost their blog roll too. Gosh I hope that is not something that will be happening for all of us. Yikes! Good luck getting that back.

    1. Thanks Kris. It worked out so well. Someone told me that they did away with the blog rolls and have a new blog list or something like that. But, it takes so long to redo it.

      Thanks for visiting.

    1. You really wouldn't want to see behind there! LOL I will show you soon but it is not the organized craft room so many others have. It's stacks of my "stuff".

    1. Thanks Joy! It was a fun project - just took me a while to do it. I did it all by hand sewing. Apparently, a lot of bloggers are losing their blog lists.

  5. I lost my blog list too.. what a rotten deal.. whoever blogger is using as their tech leader failed miserably. I rebuilt mine but I know I've lost a few.. must find them. Love how the screen turned out.. it is sad to see an old quilt cut up.. but I think yours was a candidate due to the holes. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  7. You are so clever, Judy - that screen is now so pretty! Love your collection of white creamers...that's something I collect, too. I lost my blog list, too - seems to be a big problem with Blogger right now. I re-created mine from memory and looking through my comments page.

  9. So cute, Judy! I didn't know HL had this sort of thing but they always surprise me.

I've been hearing of blogger losing parts of their blogs...hopefully its the same thing affecting all of you and it will disappear. And I've seen that happen!

  14. I love this! What a charming and practical way to display a vintage quilt. And you are so clever to put display your little white pitchers on your cup holder. What is it about little white pitchers? I never saw one I did not like. About that blog list ~ blogger removed that gadget. There is a new one up now and I am going through the same agonizing task of reentering all the blogs. It's taking me forever :-(
