Last week while we were finishing up the deck and pergola, I ran by Habitat for Humanity to see if, by chance, I could find some old railing - wrought iron, wood, anything.
Well, they had none but look what I did find~~
This gorgeous solid wood king sized headboard made by Thomasville with burl wood
$35.00!!!!
I ran home and got the truck and went back to get it.
If you remember what I had in my master bedroom before--
I had an antique looking wrought iron headboard in a sage green color. I liked it and will keep it but when I got pillows on the bed, you couldn't see much of the headboard.
If you don't remember, these are the pieces I have in my MBR....
an antique dresser that was my folks...
this antique used as a night stand...
one of my favorite pieces, this armoire that houses my television...
and this beautifully carved piece hung above my long skinny window. This piece was purchased at an estate sale. It was actually the side rail for an antique bed. I fell in love with it and immediately knew what I would do with it.
All in all, the woods are all matched almost perfectly.
It certainly was a good day to shop at Habitat. I go by there on a regular basis because you never know what you are going to find.
And to think, I wasn't even looking for a headboard.
LOL
Enjoy!
Judy
You found a treasure of a wooden head board.
ReplyDeleteI think it was a treasure too! Thanks for dropping by.

What a wonderful headboard you found! By the way, I found a red truck like yours on the Hobby Lobby website and now it's mine! What happened to your blog list? I used to be on it, I thought. LOL! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa! Glad you found your red truck in time for Valentines. I just keep losing my entire blog list. You were definitely on it. It takes so long to go back and reenter all of the blogs so I am working on it slowly but surely.

Hi Judy,
ReplyDeleteI love Habitat. I find the best stuff at ours too. Like you said you never know what you will find. Love that headboard and the price is great. Looks great. Happy Weekend.
Hugs,
Kris
Thanks Kris. I was thrilled with the headboard.
DeleteHave a great week.

Very nice, Judy. I didn't know they had stores. I make donations and I was excited to volunteer to build a home with them in our lake town last summer but we weren't in our home yet so it didn't work out. I support their cause and I love that you support as well with your shopping!

Thanks Jane. We have two HFH stores - one is building supplies, ie doors, windows, etc and the other one just opened last week and is clothes, dishes, etc. They are both nearby - lucky me.
DeleteHave a great week.

Just right for your bedroom. We just got a Restore Habitat for Humanity in town. It is slowly getting a bit more 'older' furniture but mostly big stores giving away dents, overstock and mis-tints for them to sell. It is better that not having the resource. I can see that it is getting a broader range of stock as they become known locally. The opened this January.

We've had one really close to me ever since I've been in Tulsa. It is mostly building supplies and a little furniture. But, last week and HBH thrift store opened (really close by also) and is stocked with a wide array of stuff.
DeleteHave a great week. Think of you often and hope you are doing well.
Judy
That is one beautiful headboard. You got a deal. Now you make me want to shop the Habit Restore store near me on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ~ FlowerLady
I was thrilled to find it. I was not even looking for a headboard. I knew I needed something larger on that wall but it just kinda fell into my lap - or rather my bed. LOL
DeleteHave a great week.
Judy
Wow! It really is gorgeous! You have to go with your mind open...you never know what you'll find. Well done! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane. You never know what you are going to find there for sure!
DeleteJudy
It is lovely! I truly enjoy all the thrifts but Habitat seems to have lots more furniture then most!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda. We have two HFH - one is building supplies and they just opened a thrift store. Both close by - oh dear!! LOL
DeleteJudy
Love Habitat, but I haven't been there lately! That headboard is gorgeous, Judy. Great score!

What a GREAT looking headboard, Judy, and it matches your other stuff perfectly. That was really a good find! We don't have a Habitat for Humanity here---too bad! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThanks Diana. I'm lucky in that I have two very close by.
DeleteHave a good week,
Judy
That headboard is gorgeous! We have a newer Habit for Humanity in our town and I've been in there twice, but haven't found anything. There's another HFH in a town that's about 40 min from here, but I've never been there.
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to find it and especially thrilled at the price! We have a HFH that is mostly building supplies - doors, windows, etc. and just last week HFH opened a regular thrift store with clothes, dishes, etc. Now, I have two places I have to drop in on a regular basis. LOL
ReplyDeleteJudy
I love Habitat for Humanity. I find something almost every time I go. And, I know money spent there is helping others. Love your headboard.
ReplyDeleteI love HFH also. We have always taken stuff there when we remodeled or had leftover building supplies. Good organization.

Hi Judy, WOW what a great find in that headboard and at that incredible price. I have never gone to Habitat for Humanity. I need to look into this and where it would be located here in my area. Your room is beautiful. It seems we always find what we're not looking for and when it works to the good, it's a joy!! Have a great Sunday. Blessings xo
ReplyDeleteThanks sweet friend. It's quite an assortment of stuff.
