I did this several years ago and it is still one of my favorite holiday decorations!! Don't leave your lampshades unadorned for Christmas.
Buy a ready made candle ring approximately the same size as the diameter of the top of your lampshade. This one has small red berries and greenery. Then cut lengths of WIRED organza ribbon into about 30" pieces. This one has five pieces.
You are going to loop the ribbon onto the base of the candle ring and knot it - making two lengths, so, you will end up with ten hanging pieces of ribbon.
I clipped off ten of the little berries and hot glued them onto the lengths of ribbon - all at varying places - some higher and some lower.
Now, take the ribbon and wrap it around your ring finger. Gently pull out your finger and it will leave the wired ribbon in ringlets. I just lay it on top of the lampshade and gently pull down the ribbons to your desired length. This is the reason you must use wired ribbon. You can cut off any of the ribbon till they are all pleasing lengths. I always cut my ribbon at a 45 degree angle.
This just gives your lamps a little holiday cheer!!
Enjoy!
Till next time, Judy

Very cute! Most of my lampshades are already so dolled up. Maybe I can find a couple that are plain enough for some Xmas finery.

ReplyDeleteThat looks so pretty, Judy! Such a great idea for some of those small wreaths or larger candle rings, too.
ReplyDeleteI just love this idea and I've had this post open all day. I have some of the plainest lamp shades and I'm wondering if I can't do something like this to liven them up! I'll keep it open for awhile longer!
