Yes, I Still Love Wallpaper!!

This is a photo of the inside of the bathroom door.  I decided to paper the walls in this floral pattern.  When I finished, I decided I still needed to do a little something more in here.

I started out with painting the door (on the left) as close a color as I could to the wallpaper background (on the right).

I then delicately and carefully cut out a bunch of the flowers and stems from the wallpaper.  I did not want to duplicate the pattern exactly as it was on the wallpaper.

I started at the top of the facing on the door and started gluing down the vines and stems over the door facing and onto the door.  The secret here is to let it dry completely and then take a very sharp Xacto knife and cut the divisions i.e. the door facing from the actual door.  See below.

It really wasn't hard just took some time to cut out all of the designs.  It just gave the room a little more distinctive look.  I am planning in the Spring on gutting and redoing this bathroom for several reasons.  The main reason is I have pink tile in there.  We replaced the vanity and top years ago, but I still have the pink around the shower which is always closed with a decorative shower curtain.

You will also notice in the first photo that I painted my ceiling an antique gold color to add some color to the room.

So, this will do for now.

Enjoy!

Till next time, Judy

  1. I love the way you placed the flowers like they are growing down the door. Very cute...I just spent the week removing the wallpaper from our bathroom then painting it. What a job. I like wallpaper - just wasn't in love with what was on these walls.

  2. I did this once in my daughter's room when she was a teen. She loved it.
I have 2 more wallpaper borders to take down and I will NEVER wallpaper again. I like wallpaper but it's soooo hard to get off when you tire of it:))
    Yours looks very pretty, tho.

  4. Hi Judy,
I had the exact same wallpaper in a bathroom in another house that I owned. You are so creative to do the cutouts of the roses and extend the decoration onto the door.I actually love wallpaper but do not like to take it down!

  5. Hello Judy! First, thank you for visiting my blog and the nice patriotic comments! I too, love wallpaper~~~even though in the last 2 yrs., I did take the last of it off my half bath and kitchen. I would prefer to put it behind of an old cupboard or shelving now, just to add a sweet softness! Plus, you can change it so much easier than a whole room! Wallpaper is making another BIG comeback! I know we will be seeing more and more! I do love VINTAGE wallpaper..your paper looks VINTAGE! The cut-out look is awesome! I am your newest follower! I would love to have you as a follower too! 6. I really like what you did. I still have wallpaper in several of my rooms, some of which will never be removed by me. Just went trough that in my entry. What you did in your bathroom is really neat and gives me an idea for maybe a fix of a problem area in my bathroom. Thanks for sharing,
    Blessings,

  7. I think this looks fantastic, Judy...you are very creative and precise! I actually like wallpaper although we have taken most of it sown in our old house here. We do have wallpaper in the den which my hubs will not part with, very Victorian and...well it's just part of the old house, I guess! I've actually heard wallpaper is becoming in vogue again. See, if you just wait...

    Jane

  10. Wow, really neat! I don't know if I'd have the patience to do all that haha. But I do like wallpaper. I like grasscloth to give the walls texture.

  12. Wow! You are SO creative! I love that! I have a friend who has a big Victorian home and she did that on the ceiling. She started at the light fixture in the ceiling and went out in a circle for about 2 feet with flowers. Great idea!
Another page or two in the book!

  20. Love it! I still like wallpaper too. I have such fond memories of hanging wallpaper with my parents. I remember spending hours in the wallpaper shop going through books with my mom. When I was a young girl I had the prettiest yellow wallpaper in my bedroom. If I ever find that pattern again I will paper a room with it!
