I have been working on this project for quite some time. When I use old, vintage lace and doilies, I sew them all on by hand. Usually, I sew the lace down on both sides so it will lay flat.
This is an organizer that I finished up yesterday. It is made out of Designer Linen and almost completely covered with vintage laces, doilies and linens. I love the look!
Many of the doilies and lace pieces are pockets besides the two big pockets.
I folded the top over one of the wooden clothes hangers I had spray painted off white and closed it with Velcro across the back.
My Mother would have loved this!
Enjoy!
Till next time, Judy
I am swooning over your lacilicious organizer. Stunning way to enjoy lace bits and pieces. Happy Creative Hearts...

This is so absolutely beautiful, Judy! Very romantic. I bet it took some time but it was well worth it.
ReplyDeleteI saw a picture online somewhere where an old wooden hanger was on a hook in a bathroom and the hand towel was folded over it. I like the idea so much but I'm hard pressed to find a wood hanger!! Hubby has some but the are very thick and bulky. And ideas?

Jane
Like Jane, I wonder where you find the vintage wood hangers. Thrift stores just will not sell theirs, even when I offered to pay extra for the one the jacket was on that I bought.
ReplyDeleteIt's so sweet and I just love little pockets!
Love anything on a vintage hanger. I always can find them at estate sales - usually stuffed in the back of a closet. This organizer is beautiful. It satisfies my love of lace!
ReplyDeleteI love your organizer. It is so pretty and you really did a beautiful job. Many thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour are a very talented lady.

ReplyDeleteIt s so nice to use all those old doilies. I always feel bad about all the work that went into them and they are hidden away.
ReplyDeleteA great way to use vintage!
