Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the Mothers out in Blogland!

This day reminds us of how special and dear to us our Mothers were.  I just look back and remember how special my Mother was and realize how lucky I am to have had a Mom like that.

The concrete bench above which is in our front yard was in my parent's yard for as long as I can remember.  My Mother and Dad both sit out there with the Grandkids and watched their antics.  And I assure you, there were plenty of antics. The Hostas in the pot are from her yard also.

I grew up in a small town and on our neighborhood, I dare say there were at least thirty children our ages.  I had three sisters, of which I am reminded ever so often that I am the oldest.  But, we had so much fun growing up on Ora Street.

We had playhouses, we had clubs and we even had a newspaper that we kids put out on occasion.

In the evenings, the parents all sit out in lawn chairs and we played outside till it was dark.  There was no fear of playing outside up and down the block.  Life was so simple then.

My Mother never worked at an outside the home job but boy oh boy, did she work at home.  She made all of our clothes, decorated our small house with her decorating talents, and was always there for us.  We were in a lot of activities like church, Girl Scouts, etc. but nothing like the schedule children keep today.

My Mother was the best.

I don't think I could ever be the mother than my Mom was but I tried really hard.  I love our son, our grandchildren and our great grandchildren with all of my heart.  And deep down, I think Mother would tell me that is what is the most important thing about raising children.  Love them with all of your heart!

So, Happy Mother's Day Mom.  I love and miss you so much.  I thank you for all of the many blessings you gave us four girls over the years. So many times, you gave up something you wanted in order for us to have something.  And I thank you for being the best Mom in the world.

Love you Mom.

Till next time, Judy

  6. Happy Mother's Day to you Judy! What a wonderful tribute to your mom and of memories you have. I love that bench-it is so special too. My mom wasn't like yours but she loved me as she could; however my relationship with her made me the mom and nana I am. I am thankful that she did her best-she worked outside the our home full time.
Thanks for sharing today-it is a blessing.
    Hugs, Noreen

  10. Your mother sounds so much like mine. And they both had 4 daughters! They were a hard act to follow but I too am so thankful that I was so fortunate. She's in a nursing home far away now but my sweet sisters send me videos of their visits and when she looks at the camera and tells me and my TN sister that she misses us and loves us it's as if I were a little girl again.

Also, Judy, Laynee and Bella are so cute and sweet!
