Update!!

My advice to anyone thinking about moving after living in one place for 48 years - REALLY THINK HARD ABOUT IT!!

I had no idea I had this much "stuff".  Well, I really did but when you are having to pack it all up, it kinda seems to multiply.

I did purchase enough of these pvc shelves from Home Depot to line both sides of the garage.  They were on sale for $29.00/each and have really worked out well.

My workroom is a mess but it sure is nice to have the space to work on things in there.

Remember all of the curly q's in the bookshelves in the den?  They are on both sides of the fireplace.

Well, I finally got new moulding on them and like them much better!

Last summer, I refinished this old hutch to use in my kitchen when I had it redone.  Now, it is in my yellow den.  Looks great.

A perfect place to display all of my red transfer ware dishes I have been collecting.

Got the curtains up in the guest room.

Remember, I told you I was one finial short on the bed?  Well, a friend's father-in-law made me this one and it is a perfect match.  The problem??  The bed had one on the headboard that I took off and took to him and guess what?  The ones on the posts are different, so back to the woodshop to make a matching one. He did such an awesome job!

This precious piece was in the guest room but when I put the curtains up, it was too busy.  So, I moved it to the other side of the room and it worked out great.

This is a piece I inherited from my folks and am using for a night stand in the guest room.  Amazingly, it matches the tall cabinet very well.

Found this vintage desk in my storage room and don't know where I'll be using it.  It's small, so it can go about anywhere.

New chairs delivered for the living room.

More pieces for living room.

This is the piece I will use for a vanity in my small master bath.

This is the one I'll use for the hall bath.

I am very pleased with everything that has transpired so far (with the exception of the finial).  But, I am just itching to start sewing curtains, pillows, and all of the fun stuff.  I'm also very anxious to get my Etsy back up and running.  But, everything will come in time.

Enjoy!

Judy

  2. HUGE progress Judy. Your guest room is coming along so well. I think its your work room that is the best room - somewhere to shut the door and leave projects until they are finished. Your new chairs are lovely and the colour is just right. Sort of retro today. Hugs.

  4. Your red & white transferware dishes look so pretty against the wood of your old cupboard, Judy! And your built-in bookshelf has a new updated look with the molding you applied over the scalloped trim. Your friend did a fantastic job replicating the finial for your bed!

I love your new chairs and turquoise cabinet for the living room, as well as the vintage pieces you're using for your bathroom vanities. I found out the hard way how much "junk" I accumulated during our last move. It's a lot of work moving all that stuff!

    1. Thanks Pat. It's so much fun to get to use so many things I have had and not used for some time - just because I didn't have the room. I am leaving a lot of my furniture for Tiffany to use. So, we are both coming out good.

  10. So many beautiful pieces Judy. I have been in my house for about 35 years and my son said at Christmas, do you want me to get a dumpster so you can start dumping all your stuff. LOL i really believe he would do that after I die. So when I get ready to down size I will be giving away tons of stuff.
Your chairs are very pretty and i can hardly wait to see everything put together. What does Bella think?
Have a productive week and don't over do.

I'm sure I will some day, but I need to 'let go' of lots of stuff before then. May you have a wonderful week! Blessings, Cindy

  21. Love seeing all your updates on your new house, Judy! It's amazing how much "stuff" we truly have, isn't it? I agree that you don't realize just how much you have until you move. Not that I would know personally (we haven't moved in 26 years), but from moving friends and family members.

  22. Judy, I so love all you are planning and all you have done thus far. You have a great eye!You really got a great buy on the garage shelves. Don't forget to fasten them securely to the walls-little children have a tendency to try to climb up everything and that would be awful if the shelves fell on them.

  28. Judy, I really dread it if we had to move. I KNOW how much stuff I have. We bought those same shelves at Lowes only they are black. They really do hold a lot and are very handy. Your cupboards are beautiful. I love the ones you are putting in the guest room. How nice you were able to get a matching finial. Don't lose hope, it will all get done in time, but who wants to wait?Right!!..Happy Tuesday..Judy

  36. Judy, you have so many lovely pieces of furniture. Now, I LOVE the dresser that you'll use for a vanity set. That will be perfect, I want to see it when you're finished (I have a thing for vanities). The turquoise piece with the glass doors is pretty also. And the nightstand you inherited from your parents is so charming. Your red transfer ware is going to look nice on your kitchen hutch. I know what you mean about accumulating so much stuff after many years. I have another blog friend who just told me that she was surprised to see how much stuff she had after just living in a place for a short time. I think I gave away about 11 bags of stuff when we moved.

Keep your spirits high, Judy. You're doing a great job moving into your new house.
