The Deck and One Proud Great Grandmother

First and foremost, I am so proud of Laynee!!  She was named Student of the Month in Kindergarten.  I am so excited for her.  It was quite an honor at the Award Assembly!!

Update on the deck and pergola.  The pergola I bought late last summer at Lowes'.  It had to be put together before we started on the deck to determine sizes, etc.  You can see Bella is checking out every thing they bring in her backyard.

The two hard workers are my two grandsons.

The pergola all finished.

Bella and Laynee supervising!

Next - starting on all of the supports.

Here is the deck with the pergola attached.  These sliding glass doors are off of my master bedroom.  The steps go around two sides and the side next to the chimney will have railing on it.

Side view.

Laynee was really wanting to help.

I splurged and did the deck in Trex.  No paint, no stain and warranted for 30 years.  It has a really pretty woodgrain pattern in it.

Can't you just imagine the pergola with white flowing curtains and a gorgeous black chandelier that I already had from an estate sale?  It'll take a few months to get it all gussied up but that will be the fun part for me!!

Enjoy!

Judy

  2. What a good addition to your home Judy, and right off your sliding doors from the master bedroom. Family helping was great. How on earth did they manage to move the Pergola onto the deck !

Congratulations Laynee for earning Student of The Month. Hugs.

    1. Thanks Joy!! I am really excited because it turned out much larger than I thought it was going to be. Will be nice liveable space right outside of my bedroom. I actually did it because the concrete steps that were there were not even and I had almost tripped a couple of times. Bella too. But, I am thrilled with the outcome.

They ran large boards and scooted the pergola up the boards. The pergola weighed 250 pounds. But, they managed to get it done with just the two of them.

I am so proud of Laynee. She is doing so well in school.

      Thanks for dropping by.

  3. Oh how great Judy, you will have so much fun on your deck with the beautiful chanty and furniture. What a great way to sit and have a cool drink and watch all your lovely flowers blooming. Bella will love taking naps on it too.

Can hardly wait to see it all finished.

    Have a great week.

    1. Thanks Diana!! I'm looking forward to the summer when I can really use it. It has a covering that goes over the top to keep the shade out when I want to use it. It will be nice to shade that sliding door this summer.

Laynee is such a light to my life. I enjoy her so much. She remembers so much about John and is constantly reminding me of little things they did and things he said. I'm so glad she remembers him.

      Have a wonderful week.

  7. Judy, your pergola is beautiful! Do you have mosquitoes in OK ? Where we live, people have tried the beautiful curtains, but the mosquitoes managed to get in and spoil the fun. If that happens to you, wonder if the guys could screen your pergola & maybe put in a screened door? Enjoy and have fun decorating!

    1. Thanks Bev! Yes, we have horrible mosquitos in Oklahoma. I do have a big screened in porch on the other end of the house that we can use when they get bad. I'm also checking into those mist sprayers that keep them away.

      Thanks for visiting.

  11. Hi Judy, I am so sorry I'm behind on your blog! It somehow disappeared off my blog roll and that's how I keep up with blogs. I've had a lot of trouble with Blogger and blogs disappearing from my blog - even the entire list twice! Anyway, congratulations to Laynee and her award! She is so cute. I love your deck and pergola. Wow, will that ever be awesome in the nice weather. I can't wait to see it all finished with the curtains and chandelier. Perfect "Judy" touches!

  13. I too am so proud of Laynee! She is such a darling girl with a bright future ahead of her. You and Tiffany have given Laynee a loving, secure and cherished home life and that is giving her the support she needs to thrive. The two little ones behind her have some big girl shoes to fill. Love the pergola too!

    1. Thanks sweet friend. Yes, she is going to go places. She is just like a sponge - she wants to soak up every bit of information she can. She's precious. And the two little ones will do just as well I'm sure.
