OOPS!!!

If you have followed my blog, you know I have a real fondness for transferware.  I have red, blue and brown.  This shelf is in my dining room and filled with all kinds of beautiful pieces of brown transferware.

A month or so ago, I went to the Tulsa Flea Market and while walking up and down the aisles just checking everything out.......

Suddenly, I see this booth that has this amazing brown transferware pitcher.  GEORGEOUS!!  I talked to the lady and finally got it for $28.00.  I was so thrilled.

I was so thrilled that I wrapped it up and just left the flea market.  Couldn't wait to get home and find a place for it on my shelf.

Then, I thought to myself - self, why don't we stop at Sonic and get a Route 44 Diet Coke and we'll be set for the evening.

So, as I got home, I got out of the car with my gorgeous pitcher safely wrapped and in a bag with handles, my wonderful Rt 44 Diet Coke, my purse and keys.

Took about 4-5 steps and fell on the concrete sidewalk.  Shattered my pitcher and spilled my Diet Coke.  Now, how much worse could it get!!  Well, I couldn't get up.  I fell on the right side really hard and my whole right side was just aching terribly.

Luckily, my phone was in my purse still on my shoulder.  I called Tiff and she and Adam came immediately.  They were afraid to try to lift me up and called an ambulance.  How embarrassing!

Went to the hospital and spent 9 hours with them checking everything out.  I had Xrays and Cat Scans and no broken bones.  Thank you Lord.  I just had deep tissue bruising.

So, to make a long story shorter, I have had constant pain in my right shoulder and am having an MRI on Tuesday and see the orthopedic doctor on Thursday.  I have already informed him that if I have to have surgery, I can not do it until after the wedding in September.  I still have too much to do.

So, no photo of the beautiful brown transferware pitcher.  Wish you could have seen it.  It was a really beautiful piece.

Enjoy!

Judy

  1. Good thing you had someone to call that would come help you get up. Hope you feel better soon. I found a cute little teapot at a second hand store....so cute, it was wrapped up and in a plastic bag....got to the car, looking for my keys, lost hold of the bag and it fell to the ground. Broken, I was so sad and really beat myself up for dropping it in the first place. My friend, gave me one of her teapots to replace it...sweet of her, but was just not the same though. Got home and glued it back together, can't use it, so it sits in my china cabinet.

I have had some bad hip pain, tried all sorts of ointments, icy hot, Max-freeze biofreeze, Watkins ice/hot. Finally came upon "24 hour Pain Bloc" gosh that stuff WORKS!!! I found it at CVS. That might help with the pain. Blessings to you.

  2. Dang.. so sorry to lose a newly acquired antique and to hurt yourself in the bargain. I hope you don't need surgery. I fell and hurt my shoulder a few years ago and it hurt but it eventually healed up, then I fell again and hurt it again.. and it took a lot longer to get better the 2nd time.. but it eventually did. I recommend some massage to help it improve. Good luck! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. Oh Judy I'm just so glad you are OK. Falling like that is so scary. I have dropped treasures and broken them and I try not to cry but sometimes I do. Hugs!

  6. Judy, I can just imagine how you felt about the pitcher after the pain went away. So glad nothing is broken. I'm so sorry for your fall and pray you heal quickly. Sorry about the pitcher also, but it is just a thing and you are so much more important. Here's to a speedy recovery. Hugs.

  7. Oh, Judy...how awful! As if your life isn't eventful enough! Shoulder injuries are so painful. I had a rotator cuff tear a couple of years ago and had about 9 months of physical therapy. And it took a good year for it to completely heal. I was just thankful I didn't have to have surgery - and I hope you don't either.

  8. Hi Judy - falling hurts so darn much. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Your close by family are a blessing, bet they were so worried.

I did a mean face plant a year ago, got the ambulance trip, x-rays, and all the other assorted tests. Broke my glasses, lost skin off my nose bridge that left a scar, had a bit of a crack in the skull show in x-ray picture, lots of facial blood, a lot of embarrassment and so many kind people who came to help with keeping people from touching, holding cardboard over to keep the sun off, bringing a box of tissues so I could dry up blood and cover my face to keep germs away, phoning for an ambulance, phoning for my husband who had to drive my little standard home and lots and lots of hours in emergency. I was so grateful for the help and care of the hospital nurses and doctors. Took me three months before I had enough confidence to walk alone or drive but as the year since then has arrived I am mostly the 'self' I was then.

Pain has such a grip on our bodies. Hope that you are getting some relief from the pain and not lifting things and keeping yourself as rested as possible.

Hope you can post again in awhile. You have been so kind to so many and I cherish the small decorative cushion you sent me when I was recovering from cancer. I will never forget your kindness.

    Love,

    Joy
