Muslin Pumpkins





 
Because I love muslin, I thought "why not make a muslin pumpkin"?  I didn't want to make a stuffed one, so when I was at Dollar Tree, I bought a few of these styrofoam pumpkins for $1.00/each and decided to see what I could do with them.
 
 
 

 
I took the pumpkin outside and spray painted it an off white color.  Then I took a serrated knife and cut the stem out.
 
 
 
I then tore muslin into 1 1/2" strips.  You want the torn edges on both sides.  Then, you want to press the muslin.  I then gathered the muslin strip down the middle.  If you can't sew a "straight seam", press the strip in half and use that as a guideline.
 
 
 
Start hot gluing the strips down dividing the pumpkin into fourths.  I just ran the strip across the bottom and up the other side.
 
 
 
Now, to finish.....  Take cinnamon sticks and glue together to fit inside your stem hole.  Generously glue around the bottom sides of the stem and push into the hole.  Add a couple of silk leaves and you have a muslin pumpkin.  Enjoy!!

    I don't know if our $ tree has those pumpkins or not.. That is such a cute and different idea Judy.. You just have your "sleeve" full of great ideas.
    I'm going to have to go to the Dollar Tree to see what kind of Fall items our store has..

    So Cute! I ran right out to the Dollar Tree and got a pumpkin! Mine is not quite as cute as yours-I think I needed one more strip of ruffles! Last year I Modge Podged some of those same pumpkins with dictionary pages and toile tissue paper.
