I love old, tarnished silver. Combined with beautiful mercury pieces, I think it makes a gorgeous combination.
My Mom used to tell me that she was going to come to my house sometime when I was gone and polish up all of my old silver!! She could hardly stand the unpolished silver.
Hers was always shiny and bright.
But, I still like the drastic comparison between the sparkles of the Mercury glass and the old unpolished silver.
Enjoy!
Till next time, Judy

I agree....beautiful together! Funny about your mom's statement.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha...that's just what I told Gina the other day...that I was going to go over when she was gone and polish her silver! That so funny. Your arrangement looks wonderful though. I love it that you almost always have a bird in them. I have birds all over my house.
ReplyDeleteCheery wave!

That works for me, I am always collecting various pieces of old silver, I like the tarnish, it means it was well loved.

ReplyDeleteYUM! I love it to, although I can not let my silver go to long..I feel guilty!
ReplyDeleteLOL- It is beautiful. I'm with your Mom- I have to keep my pieces polished but I love to see them unpolished at other homes. xo Diana

ReplyDeleteThis post is wonderful! I LOVE mercury glass!!! I scrolled through your previous posts, and your vignettes are all beautiful. You have lovely collections of dishes, and vintage pieces.

That is a gorgeous combination! Love the cream pitcher. It was a relief when tarnished silver became so popular. I do have to polish flatware though. I think tarnished forks, etc. can look beautiful when styled by others but I can't pull it off and I want my fork polished when I eat from it!
ReplyDeleteThis is really pretty, Judy!
They do look lovely Judy but I have to admit, I'm like your Mom, I like my silver polished...J
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I like it both ways. Gorgeous photo.

Me too Judy! I have lots of both and never thought about displaying them together. Thanks for the great idea.

So gorgeous! I love silver polished and tarnished... either way, you can't go wrong. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet comment on my upholstered chairs...I LOVE them!! (and I'm thrilled I didn't mess em' up! lol)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you...I ADORE unpolished silver! I do have some polished silver too...just depends on the room I have it in. My farmhouse dining room is full of unpolished silver, but my living room has some polished...just the different feel of the rooms. ;) Your mom cracked me up...my mom is the same way! lol
