Solved the Puzzle Finally!

I think we have finally figured out what these are.  Thanks to all of you and your ideas.  Some were correct.

I looked up vintage silverplated holders and these are definitely ramekin holders.  You bake the ramekin dishes in the oven and then take them out and put them in these with the handle to serve on the table!!

Astonishingly enough, the prices floored me - anywhere from $70 to $300/each.  BUT, those were with the original ramekin dishes and some were Limoges.  I hope to find some ramekins that will fit into the ones I have.

I was going to make pincushions out of them but am rethinking that idea! LOL

Thanks for all of your help!

Enjoy!

Till next time, Judy

  1. I'm so glad you found out what they were Judy! I couldn't think of the word ramekin, just that they were some kind of custard serving thing. I even spent time on the internet trying to find something that looked like them, and found nothing! But the search was really fun. I think you got a really good deal on them, even without the ramekins!

  2. Don't you love solving a mystery? Those are very cute. That is a clever idea to have those to take the hot ramekins out of the oven.

Thanks so much for your sweet words, Judy. I appreciate you so much.

  5. Glad you figured it out Judy and they would make lovely (if expensive!) pincushions! Deb

  10. We know you better than that, Judy - NO WAY you would make pincushions out of them now! We know you will be looking FOREVER for the glass bowls to fit the holders...
Why not give us, your friends in crime, the exact measurements and a picture or drawing what the bowls look like and send us looking, too? After all, friends help friends!

  12. So glad you found out what these things are! Do they hold the standard size ramekin dishes? If so, don't buy new ones...I see them in thrift stores all the time. I like your idea of putting pin cushions in them better though, I think! Or, how about little potted plants?
