What an honor to be published in Romantic Homes August 2013 issue!! Miss Begonia got a two page spread in this fabulous magazine. As I returned home from my vacation, I was going thru the mail and had my RH in the mail. I leafed thru it and there she was - Miss Begonia!!
I knew she was going to be in there but was still startled to see it in print!! LOL So, look for us there.
Also, Jane from Blondie's Journal has an article written about her blog (which is wonderful and I highly recommend).
So, on to Day Two of my vacation.
This was our little boat - the Carnival Miracle. We made it to the entrance of Tracy Arm Fjord in Alaska. Then we boarded a smaller boat that took us back deep into the fjord - about 100 feet from Sawyers Glacier. It was gorgeous!!
While we were standing there watching, a crack started in the glacier and a huge chunk fell off into the water. The guide said it was about the size of a car - a big car. It created a wave which looked to me like a tsunami wave and they had to turn the boat in a certain position to keep the wave from tipping the boat. Amazing.
It was breathtaking. This was the only day we had a little rain but it didn't last long. This glacier was so white with deep cobalt blue coloring at the bottom.
All around were snow white icebergs floating in the water.
The mountainsides were just covered in dense foliage and the most beautiful waterfalls I've ever seen cascading down the mountainside over the rocks.
This particular iceberg had two adult seals and a baby on top of it. The seals go way back here near the glacier because the water is so icy cold and the Orca whales will not go there because of the cold temps. So, they are safe to have their babies there and stay until they are big enough to take care of themselves.
So, this is what we did on our second excursion day. The day before we were at sea all day and all we did was eat and eat and eat. Great vacation!
Again, I want to say thanks to Romantic Homes for the article on Miss Begonia. I am very humbled.
Enjoy!
Till next time, Judy
