Halloween Lamp Shade & Pumpkin Wreath

I made this cute lampshade today and wanted to share it with you.

What do you do when you have a plain, odd, white fabric lampshade and want to do something to it?

YOU PAINT IT!!!

I used a spray paint in a golden yellow color.  It looks splotchy in the photo, but it really wasn't that way.

I sprayed two coats and then lightly sanded the lampshade with fine grit sandpaper to smooth it out.

And then, I painted an old haunted house, a gnarly tree, a crooked fence, a bat and an orange moon on it with acrylic paint.  You might be able to do it with a black marker but I'd rather paint it.

I then added a small black and white grosgrain ribbon around the bottom of the shade for some color.

I don't do alot of Halloween but mostly Fall stuff, but I think I will enjoy this little spooky lampshade.

I wanted to show you this pumpkin wreath I just received.

It is completely covered with tiny pumpkins all made out of orange burlap with stick stems and a few Fall leaves and berries.

I ordered it from Joss & Main.  They have some of the most darling things.

I already have all of my Fall decorations up, so will put this up for next year.

Enjoy!

Till next time, Judy

  6. Great job on the lamp shade...so creative! I do more 'fall' decorating rather than Halloween but I do use a few 'creepy' pieces. This is an idea I will save for next year!

  8. This is SO cute, Judy! Your crafty ideas are endless. Did you paint it freehand or is it a stencil?

I love Joss and Main, too, but I try to stay away from it...it's so tempting buy, buy, buy. I do love your wreath though!

  10. Oh Judy, what a great job on your lamp shade. I really like it. I have a couple of shades that I am going to spray - thanks so much for the idea. They are so expensive in the stores, almost as much as the lamps.
    Have a great fall week.

  19. You're definitely way ahead of me. I seem to only take photos of fall, rather than actually doing the work of decorating. Nice projects!
