Construction has begun! This is my tiny bath off of my bedroom. It was originally just a stool and sink. We had a closet that backed up to it in the hall and tore it out 30 years ago and put in an acrylic shower.
The shower had yellowed with age and was not very pretty.
This is the other side of the bathroom. Excuse all of the boxes - I have faucets, valves, etc. sitting everywhere in my house. I tried to put the boxes in the rooms they will be going in.
Early this morning, a young man named Lyle showed up and started tearing out the old shower.
He moved pretty fast!
Within three hours, he had all of the old shower and sheetrock out and new sheetrock on all of the walls except the plumbing wall. Plumbers will be here on Monday.
I also have two new toilets sitting outside in the garage!
This young man cleaned up every inch that he made a mess in. He even took a whisk broom and cleaned around everything.
Amazing work!
The good news is that Bella barked at him when he first got here but after that she just laid on the bed and supervised!!
This is the back of my home. On Monday, they will start on the screened in and covered patio and deck.
I will be losing my little Weeping Cherry tree but as you can see, over half to three fourths of it is already dead due to ice two years ago.
I spent last evening digging up my purple sweet potato vine and this pineapple sage that was under the cherry tree.
I will plant it somewhere else soon.
So, there you have it - the first day under our belt.
Looking forward to Monday!
Enjoy!
Judy
Lots of fun changes going on there...looking forward to seeing them! We had that same wallpaper in our entryway...I saved some of it when we removed it, just because it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteJudy, Let's praise the workman that cleans up as he goes along. We love those guys. I would love some make overs here. Stay calm and carry the dreams of it all done in your mind. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteWill be waiting to see each step of each job ! Wonderful to have such a great worker for the shower removal.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Judy my bathroom looks just like yours. I did a little upgrade about 6 years ago. I can't get over how the size and location of everything is exactly alike.
ReplyDeleteWOW your worker sounds great to do all that and clean up too, amazing. Bet Bella was keeping an eye on him LOL. Bella and Lili are so much alike, not only in looks but in their manners also.
Your screen in deck you will love - no more bugs, YEA
Have a restful weekend.

Gosh, it is all go! It sounds as though the workers are doing a great job though, so I hope that continues and that they get done very quickly so you can just sit back and enjoy all the good work! xx
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!! Looking forward to seeing your photos as the job progresses. And how nice that Lyle is such a neat worker!!

ReplyDeleteSo exciting Judy. Wow so far you are off to a good start with a wonderful tear out and clean up. That is half the battle right there. I cannot wait to see more. Happy Sunday.

Judy things are moving along well. Isn't it wonderful having people work in your home that really do the job well? I can't wait to see everything finished.

I'm looking forward to the next step and the finished product as I'm sure you are too. I bet you and your little grand gals will enjoy the screened in patio and deck. Thanks for sharing all of the improvements and progression with us.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are off to a great start! One good sign is how that young man cleaned up the mess. Didn't know you were getting a covered patio area. That will be awesome! We have a patio but it's not covered, so can't sit out there in now due to all the mosquitoes.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to follow along with you as you are having some remodeling done. We hope to have both of our bathrooms remodeled soon. We redid our kitchen a few years ago.

Oh, Judy, this is all so exciting...how wonderful that you are able to have this done to your pretty house. You are so going to enjoy it all. Just turn a blind eye to all the work, confusion, dust that will go on during construction...it is going to be BEAUTIFUL....yay

Things are really moving fast! Happy for you, Judy!
ReplyDeleteGood for you Judy! This is exciting!
ReplyDeleteJudy, the back of your house is so perfect for a screened in porch. You'll love being out there with your grands.
ReplyDeleteI kinda hate to see that gorgeous wallpaper go in the bathroom but have no doubt you'll do something pretty again. Can't wait to see. I'm glad you have a nice worker there. That sure helps.
I love your wallpaper! I used the same in my dining room in Houston and my first house in Tulsa. Are you saving it and just doing new tile?
ReplyDeleteJudy, I have that same shower. It was here when we bought the house and I swore I would change it out as soon as I could. Now ten years later it's still here :) I never do sit on that ledge/shelf/thingie!
