I had found this gorgeous plate rack at an estate sale several months ago and finally got it hung in the dining room. It was a perfect place for my brown transferware and some silver pieces.
I love mixing the two together.
This special little buffet/washstand was my Mom and Dad's in their dining room. So, I knew it needed to be in my dining room. It had been in a bedroom at the old house.
Of special interest on this piece are the hand painted glass tiles on the back piece. The green Weller vase and the white McCoy planter both add the to the pretty tile colors.
This sweet old clock was my great-grandmother's. It is so much fun to be using all of these inherited pieces that I have had for a while but really no place to use them.
Yellow roses are continuing to delight me!
What in the world is this bush? It is at the old house and I have no idea what it is. I remember buying the small plant at a garage sale last summer and planting it, but it has gone bananas.
Enjoy!
Judy
such beautiful pieces with so much history you have, I had the brown transfer ware when we were first married, I gave it all away in the 80's, lol now I wish I hadn't ,,
ReplyDeleteI have no idea hat that flower is!
Thanks Laurie - I am so enjoying having the space to use all of these treasures I have had for so long. My Mom passed away over ten years ago and most of these items I have had since then and just wasn't enjoying them.
DeleteI cringe to think you gave away your brown transferware!! LOL
Judy
Your displays are looking good, Judy! Love that you your parent's wash stand. What a gorgeous piece of furniture. Your mystery plant is passion flower!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melanie - I love being able to use all of these pieces with such precious memories. Thanks for identifying my passion flower. It is such a huge bush in just one season and probably has over 100 blooms on it. Very invasive tho it appears.
Deletethanks for dropping by.
Judy
it's a passion flower vine
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy. It has grown so fast and probably has over 100 blooms on it. I have been told it is very invasive.
DeleteTHANKS FOR IDENTIFYING IT.
Judy
Love your shelf with the beautiful transferware dishes and silver. I love old pieces that have meaning or belonged to family. Your dining room is looking really special.
ReplyDeleteYou and Bella have a great weekend.
Mary
Thanks Mary. I am just about to finish up the living room and dining room. I have one more huge buffet to put in the dining room but am having trouble getting someone to move it. It has curved glass and is exactly 8' tall, so here's hoping it'll squeeze in my dining room.
DeleteLove your babies for me.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Judy
Judy, the plate rack is wonderful and looks great with the brown transferware. Love that you have a place to display your inherited pieces.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Thanks Linda. I am certainly enjoying all of the pieces I've had for over ten years since my Mom passed.
DeleteHave a great weekend.
Judy
Judy, how do you keep your dishes on the plate rack without fear of them falling off. I have my grands here a lot and I know it would be a challenge. Do you use museum wax or something similar? I think it is gorgeous !
ReplyDeleteArlene - I used some kind of sticky stuff to make sure they don't fall. The plate rack had really deep grooves for the plates. Plus, it is hung up higher than any of my little ones can reach.
DeleteHave a great weekend.
Judy
I love your buffet with the hand painted roses on the tiles....what a treasure to have inherited from your mom and dad! hugs....
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny - I love it being out where all can enjoy it.

Mixing family pieces and seeing your treasures every day is very special. Your brown transferware and the tarnished silver on your wall shelves makes a very happy mix.

What a lovely display of your brown transfer ware and silver. Love that old piece of your Mom and Dad's. Those hand painted tiles make it really special. The clock is nice too.
ReplyDeleteAs someone already commented, your mystery flower is a passion flower. I love the color of yours. I have a blue/purple, and also a red one.
Have a wonderful weekend ~ FlowerLady
Thanks Lorraine - Mom and Dad had some wonderful pieces. And when you think that there were four of us girls who shared everything, my pieces are just a fourth of what they had
DeleteHave a great week.
Judy
I have an antique wash stand I love too Judy. I love how you are arranging all of your fabulous pieces.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Mom always had that piece in her dining room. However, it does have the cute little towel rack on the one end, so I guess it can be used either way.
DeleteThanks for visiting.
Judy
Beautiful heirloom pieces, I really love the wash stand..it's gorgeous! I don't know what that flower is, quite unusual!
ReplyDeleteThanks Terri - I found out the flower is Passion Vine.
DeleteThanks for visiting.

Oh, gosh, Judy...everything looks so so pretty. You are coming right along in your pretty new house. Is it beginning to feel like home yet ? After being in our olden house 40 years, it has taken 3 years in the Summer House to feel it's home...it won[t ever be like the olden one, tho, as our kids and grands grew up in that house. This pretty Summer House is so nice and we love it.....
ReplyDeleteThanks BJ! I am amazed at how much I feel at home. I think the fact that I'm not actually getting rid of the old home makes it easier. Tiff and her family are planning on moving in the old house soon. They have painting, etc. to do first. With the twins and all of their allergies and lung issues, everything will have to be done ahead of time.
DeleteLove your Summer House and that you are enjoying it.
Judy
Your brown and white transferware is so pretty! Your family heirlooms are so precious. I still use my grandmother's wedding bedroom set and wouldn't part with it for anything.
ReplyDeleteThanks Betsy! Isn't it fun to use pieces with so many memories?
DeleteJudy
That clock of your grandmothers is so beautiful. I love how you are using some of your heirlooms in your new decor.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting.

Judy, I love your transferware collection. You've displayed it beautifully! How wonderful to have those heirloom pieces. The plant looks like a passion flower. It doesn't grow here, but I've seen it and thought it was so unique.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Thanks Jann - It's so nice to have my collections out where I can enjoy them daily. The plant is a passion flower and is growing like crazy.

Wow, your plate rack looks great, and the brown dishes look lovely on there. That buffet is so charming with the red roses. It looks like an antique for sure, one of a kind. Judy, I love that mint green vase, it's sooooo pretty, and I'm really into that color lately. You have many special treasures, and the fact that they belonged to past loved ones makes them even more special.
